Located in the stunning Upper Murray region, with views to the mountains and all the natural beauty of picturesque farmland, bush and river surrounding it, Longview is in the perfect home for creating a sense of a rural dream.
The house arrived in Corryong on the back of a bullock dray in two parts in the 1910s, and so the handhewn weatherboards and internal features are much older than even that. The front of the house has three rooms set up as bedrooms, two with moody walls and the third is light and airy, all with original windows, high ceilings, and hanging paper lantern lights.
The hallway is lined with wainscotting, has high ceilings and reclaimed Tasmanian oak floorboards.
The kitchen and living space were added to the house over the last four years. Polished concrete floors, a small country style kitchen, lots of natural light and big windows looking out to the back deck and the paddock behind.
The house is filled with a mix of vintage and new elements. There’s a vintage chesterfield, a reclaimed church pew, and layering of beautiful textiles in natural tones.
Outside, the garden is a work in progress but there is a large lawn and newly planted trees, hedges and more. The veranda is elevated and wraps around three sides of the house. There is also a large back deck.
While on the edge of town, Longview is on a corner block with no houses behind or immediately next to it.
The mix of modern and old really does make this house special – and the potential for extra shoot locations around the district is boundless.
