About this space

Tucked into the rugged coastline of Tasmania’s Freycinet National Park, Sunny Siren Beach Shack is a bold and nostalgic mid-century gem—authentic to the era, architecturally significant, and completely film-ready. Designed by Frank Stary in 1966 and retaining its original form and layout, this rare waterfront shack is an atmospheric time capsule set against one of Australia’s most cinematic landscapes.

Everything here has been preserved or restored with intention. The open-plan living and dining space is wrapped in warm timber wall panelling and anchored by a hand-clad stone fireplace—textural, grounded, and visually rich. Underfoot, terrazzo floors from the original 1960s build have been carefully brought back to life, adding heritage detail and pattern to your shoot canvas.

The kitchen is a scene-stealer in its own right. Drenched in retro colour and pattern, it features bold candy-striped cabinetry that leans joyfully into Palm Springs playfulness while remaining rooted in Australian coastal charm. It’s a backdrop made for colour-rich campaigns, fashion editorials, or stylised lifestyle content with a vintage twist.

Step outside to the elevated entertaining deck, where expansive views stretch across Parsons Cove and beyond. Framed by granite boulders, untouched bushland, and the rhythmic coastline, this space captures Tasmania’s east coast in all its wild, wind-swept beauty. Natural light spills across the shack throughout the day, and golden hour here is nothing short of cinematic.

Adding to the shack’s charm is a simple yet luxe outdoor hot and cold shower—perfect for post-swim editorial scenes or wellness-focused campaigns. Down below, guests have private access to a residents-only beach—one of Tasmania’s most secluded coves, shared only by a handful of neighbouring properties.

This is a location that delivers mood, colour, history, and place. Ideal for production teams, film crews, and photographers looking to craft something visually distinct, Sunny Siren Beach Shack offers a rare fusion of mid-century design and raw coastal drama—authentic, playful, and uniquely Tasmanian.
